Erewash CVS

Got time on your hands?  Want to do something to help in your community?

Volunteering opportunities available via the Volunteer Centre in Erewash – you can help with our direct services which includes befriending an older or disabled housebound person or sitting with someone to allow a carer to get out.  We also run a Shopping Project across the borough and a Transport Scheme.  A Tea Dance/Social is held at our Centre on Granville Avenue in Long Eaton on the 2nd Wednesday afternoon of each month too – dancing not compulsory!

Just one hour a week can make a huge difference to someone’s life and for volunteers it can alleviate loneliness for them also, they make new friends and learn different skills.  Training is provided and all out of pocket expenses reimbursed.

We also advertise volunteering vacancies for many other groups and organisations, large and small, on the national volunteering website:  People can search via postcode and apply for opportunities of interest online.

If you are interested in being part of the team we are holding an information session and support meeting for volunteers on Tuesday 18 March from noon until 2pm at our Centre – please pop along or alternatively ring us on 0115 9466740 for more details about volunteering or email

Go on, make a difference – you won’t regret it!

Events & Notices

Erewash CVS has started a Men's Shed project which provides an opportunity for men to socialise while undertaking different shed/workshop projects.

The next shed meeting is at CVS on Granville Ave. Long Eaton NG10 4HD from 10-30am till 12-30pm on Monday 23rd January when tools donated to the project will be sorted and checked, some pyrography and maybe some marquetry.

This event is free no booking needed. Future sessions will cost £2-50p and will be held every 2 weeks.

The Shed is seeking donations of any woodworking tools and these can be dropped in at the Charity during office hours.

A Men’s Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he feels at home and pursues practical interests with a high degree of autonomy.

A Men’s Shed offers this to a group of such men where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue.

They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men come together to work.

Wednesday Afternoon Social Club/Tea Dance - every second Wednesday in the month - 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Erewash Volunteer Centre, Granville Avenue, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, NG10 4HD - view poster for more information
