FRIENDS OF HAYWORTH ROAD PARK, SANDIACRE

The Friends of Hayworth Road Park help to maintain Hayworth Road Park in Sandiacre, by upgrading certain areas and increasing the flora and fauna of the park, working with Erewash Borough Council who own the land.

Successes so far have included two community picnics, a moth watch, a guided tour of the trees and a start on introducing wild flowers to the park.  Other projects are in the pipeline but more help is needed.

For more information please contact Katharine Stewart – Publicity Officer – Friends of Hayworth Road Park - phone 0115 849 0005 or email krstewart1999@yahoo.com

Tai Chi Class in St Giles Church Hall in Sandiacre. It runs on Thursdays from 8pm to 9pm.

Tai Chi is an evidence based form of exercise proven to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly and because of this my class has been promoted by the falls prevention officer for South Derbyshire. Further to this, I have also recently passed a Nationally recognised Later Life training course to deliver the Otago Exercise Programme - a programme to increase strength and balance for those who have suffered a fall.  For more information contact Alec Newton at newtonone@googlemail.com  The Tai Chi class does not target a single age group, but is appropriate for a range of people, from those looking for an effective martial system to those who are less physically active and are looking for a gentle and relaxing form of exercise.
