The Parish Council’s Civic Service is traditionally held on the second Sunday in October at St Giles’ Church, Sandiacre and is an opportunity for the Chairman and local Councillors to welcome the Mayor of Erewash and thank representatives and volunteers from local groups and organisations within the community of Sandiacre for all the good work they undertake throughout the year.
The service of thanksgiving for community involvement is led by Rev Olaf Trelenberg and commences at 6.30pm. Refreshments are provided at the end of the service.
Remembrance Sunday Service
The Remembrance Sunday Service is organised by the Parish Council and held on the Sunday nearest the 11th November at the Methodist Church, Butt Street, Sandiacre.
The evening service is attended by the Mayor of Erewash, local dignitaries and representatives from community groups and organisations.
The service is led by Rev Susan Homes and commences at 6.00pm.
The service commemorates those from the local community who lost their lives during WW1 and WW2 and remembers those in the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
All residents are welcome to attend. Refreshments are provided at the end of the service.
Carols Around the Tree

It is a very popular start to the festive season and one that can be shared by the whole community. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
Parish Council Christmas Concert
At the beginning of December, the Parish Council organises the annual Christmas Concert at Friesland School. Tickets are only £5 each and can be obtained from the Parish Council office.
The concert starts at 7.00pm and finishes at approximately 10,00pm. Refreshments and mince pies are sold during the interval to support the school’s Parent Teacher’s Association.
Performing on the evening are Sandiacre Male Voice Choir, Long Eaton Silver Prize Band and Erewash Phoenix Choir. It is a very special evening where a selection of traditional and modern music is performed and besides a rousing performance by the band and choirs, everyone can join in with the finale and sing a selection of traditional carols.
The Mayor of Erewash is invited and local Councillors welcome all members of the community. This is a popular and very entertaining evening.
Parish Council Play Scheme
Sandiacre Parish Council has been successful in obtaining Big Lottery funding of £9,996 from Awards for All to support a holiday playscheme throughout 2016. The scheme will run at Cloudside Junior School, Sandiacre for children aged 6 to 11 years who live in the Sandiacre and Risley with Hopwell parishes.
