Parish Council Events

Civic Service

St. Giles' Church DoorThe Civic Service, held at St Giles’ Church, provides an opportunity for the Parish Council to invite the Mayor, MP and other local dignitaries, police officers and representatives of all the various local voluntary groups and organisations to the service.

It is a service of thanksgiving led by Rev. Olaf Trelenberg to celebrate the life and work of local people and pay tribute to all the good work they carry out on behalf of the community over the past year. Following the service, light refreshments are served.

Remembrance Day Evening Service

A Remembrance Day evening service is held at St Giles’ Church and all residents are welcome to attend.

As in previous years, it is a time of reflection to remember those who have fallen and those who are listed on War Memorials in the Church and at Sandiacre Memorial Institute. The names of local soldiers are read aloud in honour of their courage and bravery during the Great War and WW11.

Rev Trelenberg will lead the service.

Christmas Lights Switch On

Everyone is invited to join the Mayor and Parish Councillors for the official switch-on of the Christmas lights.

The event takes place around the Christmas Tree, which is situated next to the Village Sign near Faircroft Avenue and we are joined by a small group of Sandiacre Male Voice Choir who lead traditional carols.

Pupils from Cloudside Academy display festive art work and Sandiacre Co-op kindly donate mince pies to ensure it is a memorable start to the festive season.

Christmas Charity Concert

Sandiacre Memorial InstituteThis year, for the first time, the concert will be held at Sandiacre Memorial Institute and a selection of music and carols will be sung by members of Sandiacre Male Voice Choir, who next year will be  celebrating 100 years since being formed.
